Buckhannon Welcomes Newest Patrolman

BUCKHANNON - The City of Buckhannon welcomed its newest Police Officer this week as Mayor Robbie Skinner administered the Official Oath of Office to Dylan Ray Major.


Patrolman Major is from Fredericksburg Virginia and is a 2018 graduate of James Monroe High School. He currently attends West Virginia Wesleyan College, majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Psychology. Dylan will be graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in December of 2022.


Dylan played four years of collegiate football at West Virginia Wesleyan College. Over the next several months, Patrolman Major will be undergoing orientation training with the Buckhannon Police Department in hopes of starting police academy training in January 2023.


Attending the swearing in ceremonies were Dylan’s girlfriend, Grace Smith, John Mitchell (Dad), Christine Major-Mitchell (Mom), Susan Robinson (Aunt), George L Major (Uncle), Buckhannon Police Chief Matt Gregory, Lieutenant Doug Loudin, Sergeant Mark Stewart, Patrolman Jonathan Warner, Patrolman Wade Loudin, City Recorder Randy Sanders, Council Members, Jack Reger and David McCauley.
