City Council Approves Resolution Np. 2022-07 in Support of the Upshur County School Levy Renewal

BUCKHANNON - During their most recent meeting on Thursday, October 6th, Buckhannon City Council unanimously voted via a roll-call vote to approve the Upshur County Schools levy renewal, which will be on the general election ballot come November 8, 2022.


The levy renewal would authorize the continuation of additional levies totaling $3,248,000, and would continue to support:


  • Upshur County Public Library

  • Upshur County Extension Office and 4-H

  • Stockert Youth & Community Center

  • Annual student passes for the WV Wildlife Center

  • Annual student passes for the Upshur County Recreational Park

  • Upshur County student accident insurance

  • Substitute teacher pay

  • Student-related community services

  • Extracurriculars

  • Extended employee agreements

On August 18, 2022, City Council recognized former Upshur County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Sara Lewis Stankus and Financial Director Jeffrey Perkins regarding everything the levy affords Upshur County Schools.
