CHARLESTON, WV (Mountaineer News) - As the COVID-19 public health emergency comes to a close, the United States Department of Agriculture has approved DHHR's Summer Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) program. Eligible students who attended a participating West Virginia school and were actively enrolled on May 15, 2023, will receive a one-time Summer P-EBT issuance of $120 in June 2023.

Students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals, including those attending Community Eligibility Provision schools, are eligible for the program. If your child attends a participating school and you did not previously apply for free or reduced-price meals, or if your household situation has changed and you may now qualify, please visit www.schoolcafe.com or contact your local board of education for more information.

Each qualified student will receive an eligibility letter, and existing WV P-EBT cardholders will receive their benefit on their current cards. New students to the P-EBT program will receive a new WV P-EBT card. If you have lost your card, a new one may be requested by calling 1-866-545-6502.

The WV P-EBT program collaborates with DHHR and the West Virginia Department of Education's Office of Child Nutrition. For more information, please visit the WV P-EBT website or contact the P-EBT Call Center at 1-866-545-6502.
