Vintage Buckhannon
This week, it's another DOUBLE-SHOT exclusive straight out of the Vintage Buckhannon Vault.
Photo 1:
M.E. Church, circa 1910s
This real photo postcard from the 1910s captures the side of what is now known as the First United Methodist church building and parsonage facing Latham Avenue. Unfortunately, the upper courses of the old bell tower are missing today as a result of a lightning strike.
Photo 2:
Buckhannon City Hall, circa 1980
This photo depicts Buckhannon City Hall in the early 1980s. The building was originally constructed in 1939 as a post office and federal building. In 1974, the post office moved and the building was subsequently renovated and repurposed as Buckhannon City Hall.
Revisit us here every Tuesday to see new additions as we build this virtual online pictorial for our community featuring the landmarks, people and relics of Upshur County's bygone days.
