BUCKHANNON - During the most recent City Council meeting on September 1st, Mayor Robbie Skinner wanted to dispel any confusion (regarding the Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Buckhannon and Upshur County Schools) pertaining to the property at 9 E Victoria Street (adjacent Academy Elementary School) and its scheduled demolition.

According to Mayor Skinner, the Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by the City and they were just waiting on the Upshur County Board of Education. He further stated that there had been some confusion as to which structures were scheduled for demolition.

"I want to make sure the folks knows that it is not the red house. There has been some confusion about... I do not believe that the red house is on the chopping block for demolition at this time (that sits on the corner of Kanawha and E Victoria street). these are houses that down East Victoria Street where the Bus Loop entrance is. they are both white. So this is not the historic rest her red house up on the corner, so... (for) clarification," Mayor Skinner Said.
