Thanksgiving tradition for some includes annual television events that we all know and love... the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the National Dog Show and some professional football.

A brief history about these Thanksgiving Day television events:

- On the morning of November 27, 1924, Macy's gave the children of New York a special treat, which is now viewed by millions each year.

- Although the National Dog show has only been airing since 2022, The Kennel Club of Philadelphia Dog Show has been ongoing since 1879 with its only interruption being the Great Depression from 1928 through 1932.

- The Thanksgiving Day NFL tradition started in 1934 when the Detroit Lions hosted the Chicago Bears at the University of Detroit Stadium. No games were played on the holiday from 1941-44 because of World War II.
