Several Firefighters Recognized During Buckhannon City Council Meeting

Chief JB Kimble with the Buckhannon Fire Department recognized several Buckhannon Firefighters during the February 2nd City Council meeting.


BUCKHANNON - Several firefighters from the Buckhannon Fire Department were recognized during the February 2nd Buckhannon City Council meeting.


Probationary Firefighters Shane Jenkins and Monica Potter were the first to be recognized after successfully completing their probationary periods and graduating to the rank of official firefighters.

Next to be recognized were Firefighters First Class John Brugnoli and Tanner Smith, both of whom recently passed their exams to achieve the rank of lieutenant within the department.

A group of firefighters were also honored during the meeting. Chief Kimble named the following individuals to be recognized and receive commendation pins for their efforts during the November 2022 fire that destroyed a home on Pocahontas Street; A woman was rescued and an officer (firefighter) was injured during the blaze:


Buckhannon Fire Captain Joey Baxa, Captain Linn Baxa, Volunteer Firefighter Justin Boggs, Lieutenant John Brugnoli, Captain Glen Davis, Captain Brian Elmore, Firefighter Shane Jenkins, Firefighter Steve Michaels, Firefighter Maggie Petitto, Firefighter Maria Potter, Firefighter First Class Ethan Smith and Firefighter Hunter Wilfong.

Members of the Buckhannon Fire Department who were present to receive commendation pins for the Pocahontas Street fire included (from L-R) Firefighters Ethan Smith, Maria Potter, Steve Michaels, Shane Jenkins, Glen Davis, John Brugnoli, Linn Baxa and Joey Baxa.

At the conclusion of the recognition event, Chief Kimble presented Mayor Robbie Skinner with a ribbon of successful rescue to thank the Mayor and City Council for their continued support of Buckhannon's fire service.
