Suspect Who Caused Lockdown at B-UHS Apprehended by Local Authorities

No firearms were located at the school after the suspect posted threats of violence via social media.


TENNERTON - The Fred Eberle Technical School and Buckhannon-Upshur High School were both on lockdown this morning. Law enforcement has apprehended the suspect who made a post on social media that prompted the lockdown.


Buckhannon-Upshur High School lifted the lockdown at approximately 11:00am this morning after law enforcement completed their search of the school. Upshur County Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Debra Harrison said that during the search, no one was found to have a weapon. All students and staff were reported safe.


This afternoon, Dr. Harrison confirmed the suspect has been located and was currently in custody.


“Law enforcement has the individual in custody and will continue the investigation,” Harrison said.
