Attendees form into groups to discuss their ideas during the August 11th Stockert Town Hall meeting in Buckhannon | Mountaineer News

BUCKHANNON - Last Thursday, August 11th, 2022, a town hall meeting took place in the Community & Training Room at the Public Safety Complex (24 S Florida Street) to discuss the current plan for the new building addition at Stockert.

Mayor Robbie Skinner addressed those in attendance and stressed the importance of the Stockert Youth & Community Center project that, as he stated, "ties Main Street together in a very important way".

“We want the community’s feedback for anything they may want to see in this facility so we can work with our architect and engineers to build the plan for what the community is looking for,” Skinner said.

Michael Mills, Managing Principal of the Mills Group was also on-hand to provide an in-depth analysis of the plans in place for the facility thus far, and presented a concept video from a previous Buckhannon City Council meeting.

Watch Mr. Mill's comprehensive overview here:

During the meeting, attendees were divided into groups for a breakout session to share their thoughts and ideas for what they would like to see included in the center's concept. The groups then shared what they discussed with the board toward the end of the meeting.

Mayor Skinner stated that this puts Buckhannon one step closer to building the facility.

Editor's Note: There were a number of parents who were unable to attend this Stockert Youth & Community Center Town Hall meeting due to a conflict of scheduling with the Frozen Jr. performance at the Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts at WV Wesleyan College. We hope that the City will allow their voices to be heard as well.

This is a developing story. We will keep you up-to-date with any additional information as it becomes available.
