BUCKHANNON - That white box is unmistakable - whether it be a regular glazed or a simple jelly-filled donut, or a pepperoni roll with your choice of cheese - there's no doubt that The Donut Shop in Buckhannon has woven itself into the very fabric of our community over the years, which has been more evident than ever over the past 24 hours.

On Thursday, December 29th, a regional television news station reported that the local establishment would be permanently closing its doors on New Year's Eve; The Donut Shop had also shared the news report via its official Facebook page.

When the news broke and word began to spread, hordes of people packed the familiar establishment to get what was thought to be a final taste of Buckhannon's history.

UPDATE: We have learned from a WBOY, Clarksburg exclusive that, upon further investigation, The Donut Shop may not be closing permanently after all; They were able to obtain official statements from individuals associated with the matter.
