Vintage Buckhannon

This week, we are privileged to present our inaugural Vintage Buckhannon Special Feature, showcasing photographic material graciously furnished by Mr. Robert Cottrell of Buckhannon.

In last week's segment, we featured a vintage postcard photo of the old Red Rock Fuel Co. tipple and a coal scrip token from H.A & O.L. Casto. Not only did Mr. Cottrell share his extensive expertise with community members who had questions about the subject matter via our Facebook post, but he was also gracious enough to contribute two extremely scarce real photo postcard images of the Red Rock Fuel Company for everyone to enjoy.

We want to take a brief moment to express our sincere gratitude for Mr. Cottrell's incredibly generous contribution of these rare and historical photos to our community. They are truly one of a kind, providing us with a unique and valuable glimpse into the past and allowing us to reflect on the rich history of our town. Images such as these give us a deeper appreciation for the struggles and triumphs of those who came before us.

So, thank you, Mr. Cottrell, for preserving our collective heritage and ensuring that future generations can appreciate the beauty and significance of our shared history. We are deeply grateful for your generosity and are honored to have the opportunity to present these rare and historical photos to Upshur County. Your contribution is a gift that will be cherished and appreciated for generations to come.

Editor's Note: Mr. Cottrell wishes to extend his acknowledgment and credit to the late Mr. Phil Campbell for his ownership and contribution of these photographs.

Revisit us here every Tuesday to see new additions as we continue to build this virtual online pictorial for our community featuring the landmarks, people and relics of Upshur County's bygone days.
