Meet Rico, Upshur County's Rookie K-9

BUCKHANNON - During the December 15th Upshur County Commission meeting, Tuscany Oil & Gas, LLC, Mountain V Oil & Gas (Mike Shaver) and the Elks Lodge #1736 were recognized for a generous donation made to the Upshur County Sheriff's K-9 program.

Upshur County Commission recognized representatives from Tuscany Oil & Gas, Mountain V Oil & Gas and the Elks Lodge #1736 during their December 15, 2022 meeting.

The Commission also introduced Upshur County's K-9 rookie, Rico; an 18 month old canine who will be handled by Upshur County Deputy William Tyler Chidester (pictured above).

Lieutenant Marshall Powers and retiring K-9 AJ were also on hand and recognized by the Commission; AJ provided 8 years of service to the department.

A Final Radio Call was dispatched in honor of AJ's service to the residents of Upshur County. It was a heart-warming and emotional experience for those in attendance.
