BUCKHANNON - Upshur County Schools wishes to congratulate and welcome Lisa Wildman to Buckhannon-Academy Elementary School!

"I am Lisa Wildman, the newest School Improvement Specialist at BAES. You probably already know me, but as a third-grade teacher. I am super excited to take on this new role in supporting teachers and providing intervention for students!

This will be my thirty-sixth year in the Upshur County school system. I graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan and then earned a master’s degree from WVU. My experience includes teaching fourth grade, fifth grade, and special education.

Then I found my true passion with third graders. I wasn’t planning to ever leave third grade until retirement; however, this new opportunity unexpectedly came up and I feel like this is a job where I can really make a positive impact.

On a personal note, I am married to Ed, who is the Information Technology Director for Steptoe and Johnson. Our daughter, Cardyn, just finished her master’s degree at Marshall University and she will begin her career with a first-grade position at Roanoke Elementary. I am so proud that she has chosen to follow in my footsteps! We are also excitedly planning her wedding for July of 2023!

One of the most meaningful compliments came from a former student who told me that I was the reason that she decided to become a teacher! My goal is to continue to be an inspiration to other teachers as well as to students. Education is truly the key to our future!
