- VINTAGE BUCKHANNON - Presented by Mountaineer News

Updated: Jun 14, 2022

Join us every Tuesday morning to see a new vintage photograph featuring the landmarks and people of Upshur County's bygone days.

This week we're adding a photo from the 1949 Strawberry Festival -

Mr. Robert Hall of Buckhannon.

Mr. Hall was named the Strawberry King for his impressive berry displays, making him the only individual to be awarded the title for two consecutive years. Read more in the depiction below.

A special thank you to Suzanne Kay Talbott for sharing the following information via our Facebook Page:

"Mr. Hall’s name and his strawberries were always well known in Buckhannon, he had a big strawberry patch where Kroger’s stands now all the way to the highway as well as a little vegetable stand.. they were the best !!"

Thank you for your insight, Suzanne. We always appreciate it!!

Revisit us here every week to see new additions as we continue to build this virtual online pictorial for our community. The Vintage Buckhannon official website is coming soon!
