West Virginia AG Mobilizes Against Unlicensed Mobile Home Movers

CHARLESTON, WV (Mountaineer News) - The Attorney General of West Virginia, Patrick Morrisey, has filed a consumer protection lawsuit against four members of the same family for various complaints related to the sale, transportation, delivery, setup, and repair of mobile homes in southern and central West Virginia. The lawsuit alleges that Gary May, Veronica May, Joshua May, and Tyler May, who operated as May Brothers Mobile Home Movers, conducting business without the necessary licenses.


The lawsuit follows at least 15 consumer complaints regarding deceptive sales practices, selling homes unfit for occupancy, unsafe installation of mobile homes, failing to provide promised repairs and renovations, and not returning deposits.


The Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney General's office launched an investigation in May, and despite the Manufactured Housing Board issuing nine cease and desist orders, the company has continued with its illegal activities. Morrisey emphasized the importance of complying with consumer protection laws and conducting honest business in West Virginia.


The attorney general stated that those who defraud consumers must be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law, and enforcement measures will be taken against those who cross the line. However, Morrisey also acknowledged that most businesses operating in the state do the right thing.
